How To Spend The Holidays Alone

Today I:

• Woke up.
• Made coffee.
• Made tea.
• Made hot chocolate.
      Drank them at the same time, I was curious.
• It was too quite; it was too cold in my drafty apartment
      so I jumped on my bed for 30 minutes and laughed.
• Opened the window and watched the birds and listened to the dogs howl.
• Laid on my bed and felt my heartbeat and batted my eyes at the ceiling.
• Called my mother
       cried.
• Jumped on my bed some more because I realized it was so much fun!
• Made a fort.
• Put the space heater in my fort.
      realized that was dangerous.
     It got so hot, I fell asleep for 3 hours.
• Woke up sleeping ontop of Lolita and One Hundred Years of Solitude
      Couldn’t choose which to read, so I alternated after each page.
      It was incredible.
• Got anxious, went for in run in the cold rain.
      It was incredible.
• The sun was setting— it was a rich purple behind the overcast. In a college city, downtown vacates, especially during Christmas.
     - I ran downtown as fast as I could until my lungs began to hurt from the       cold.
     - Off of Trinity and 7th, it is so, so steep— and the city was so, so                 vacant, that I felt like the only person in the world.
     - In that strange, setting, winter light, I howled until my throat felt raw. I       jumped up and down and screamed and howled and nothing stirred.
     - I ran home.
     - I felt like an airplane.
• I showered.
• I watched the Grinch while doing my nails.
• I made some more tea and started another short story.
• Talked on the phone with my best friend after she sent me a Christmas Gram from Santa.
• Brushed up on my physics while listening to The Walkmen.
• And now I am on Tumblr and eating marshmallows, because I forgot to make plans for dinner,haven’t grocery shopped in 3 weeks, and I think everything is closed.
• Then, I have a couple of articles to close.

Today was actually in a vacant, strange way, a lot of fun.
